Hart’s Fine Books is a charming, eclectic bookstore located on the North Olympic Peninsula in Sequim, Washington. We carry a broad spectrum of used, unusual and out-of-print books, as well as a fine selection of new award-winning books, and books by Pacific Northwest authors.
A visit to Hart’s will also give you an opportunity to find ephemera, handmade journals, interesting gifts, and collectibles.
Only a fraction of our inventory is listed on our website, so if you have a special book in mind, old or new, please contact our highly trained staff by phone, or email. If we don’t have it, we can do a little detective work, and generally have it in your hands within a few days. Please be sure to let us know if you are looking for an inexpensive reader copy, or for a pristine edition for your collection, so that we can find exactly what you desire.
We invite you to check our website frequently for postings of new listings, local events, as well as author signings, which are usually held at Hart’s during First Friday Art Walk in downtown Sequim. If you can’t come in person, we would be happy to obtain a signed copy of a book for you, but you would likely miss the piano player at the back of the shop.
All of our books are very carefully packaged, and shipped in boxes, not envelopes (unless you request media mail). We ship books all over the world, and will gift wrap your item upon request, no charge.
Sequim is a quaint old town with some terrific dining opportunities, coffee shops, and wine tasting. Though we believe you might make a visit to Hart’s Fine Books your soul destination, there are many wonderful places to visit in our area: The Olympic Discovery Trail (to hike, or bike); the Dungeness Spit National Wildlife Refuge; the annual Irrigation Festival; the annual Purple Haze Daze (big party weekend); Historic Railroad Bridge Park (where you will find the Audubon Society); and the Olympic Theatre Arts (OTA) for local theatre. Our other shop downtown is the Purple Haze Lavender Farm store, just a short stroll down Washington Street on the same block.
Just so you know, the “e” in Sequim, is silent.
Our shop is open Monday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm* and Sundays Noon to 5pm.
*We're open late on First Fridays, until 8:00 pm, with a musician, writer, or artist in-store. (Join us First Fridays for Sequim's Art Walk!)
